About
My name is Janaya Smith. About 5 years ago, I fell in love with fitness. I was drawn to strength based workouts as well as high intensity workouts. I loved the way I felt after every workout and I loved feeling strong. I loved the challenging exercises that helped me improve my mind, my body, and my spirit. For me, exercise is a form of stress relief and I literally feel better because of the endorphins. That is the foundation of fitness for me. It will always be about feeling amazing and being healthy first and foremost. It’s not just physical for me. It is also mental and spiritual.
I have an exercise science degree from Clayton State University. Yes, I know science and have a working understanding of biology, anatomy and physiology, and even biomechanics. I have an in depth understanding of how the body moves and how it performs physically. I also have personal training and group exercise certifications through Aerobics & Fitness Association of America (AFAA). I have two years of professional experience in the fitness industry, mainly as a group fitness instructor but also as a certified personal trainer.
This is not a hobby for me or something that I just came upon. I’ve been studying, practicing and applying the principles of health and fitness for half a decade and I have no plans on stopping anytime soon. This is my passion. Without fitness, I don’t know what else I would do. Fitness just gets me fired up.
I’ve always been active throughout my life, but I was mainly involved in sports when I was younger. I participated in little league baseball, cheerleading, the National Youth Sports Program and track and field when I was in high school. Back then, it was more about just having fun and forming a camaraderie with other kids. Now, in addition to those aspects of fitness, it is about having a holistic view of physical fitness by keeping myself healthy and feeling amazing on a mental and psychological level.
